India will play the second Test match against South Africa from 3rd January to 7th January 2021 at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after beating South Africa in the first Test by 113 runs in Centurion.

India exhibited an ideal performance in the first Test and would look to replicate a similar performance in the next as well. KL Rahul (123 off 260) and Mayank Agarwal (60 off 123) set the tone for the win as the duo compiled a 117-run partnership for the first wicket. Later, Kohli (35 off 94) and Rahane (48) played vital cameos to help India post a 327-run total in the first innings.

In reply, South Africa were bundled out for just 197 runs, thanks to a stellar bowling performance from Mohammed Shami, who picked 5 for 44. South African bowlers were right on the mark during India’s second innings. They didn’t allow any batsman to get set and play a big knock. India were bundled out for just 174 runs, thereby setting a target of 305 runs for South Africa to chase.

Bumrah was superb in the last innings and picked the crucial wickets of Dean Elgar, Rassie van der Dussen, Keshav Maharaj. Shami and Siraj picked 3 and 2 wickets each as well to help India bundle, South Africa, out for just 191 runs. India, as a result, won the game by a massive margin of 113 runs.

For South Africa, Dean Elgar looked like the most assured batsman at the crease. He will need to continue his fine performance with the bat if South Africa fancies a comeback in the series. Sadly, Quinton de Kock has announced his retirement from Test Cricket and his decision will further dent South Africa’s hopes of winning the series.
