India vs West Indies, IND Playing XI vs WI, 2nd T20I, India Tour Of West Indies 2022. India will play against West Indies in the 2nd T20I on 1st August 2022 (Monday) at Warner Park, Basseterre on the island of St Kitts. The match will begin at 8 pm IST, with the toss at 7.30 pm IST.

Having clinched the first game comfortably, head coach Rahul Dravid will hope that his side can rally and clinch a 2-0 lead in the series on Monday. Despite the win, however, India had some pressing concerns, especially considering the form of Shreyas Iyer.

The KKR skipper has struggled over the past couple of months, and the team management will have to make a tough call with Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda available. The KKR skipper managed a four-ball duck which triggered an India collapse before Dinesh Karthik resurrected the Indian innings.

India continued their winning momentum into the T20Is too, winning the first match comfortably by 68 runs. They will look to continue their dream run and win this match too to go ahead 2-0 in the series.

Tarouba’s Brian Lara Cricket Stadium hosted its first-ever international match on 29 July. The Men in Blue were propelled by skipper Rohit Sharma’s 44-ball 64 as well as yet another vital contribution from finisher Dinesh Karthik (41 not out off 19 balls), posting a commanding 190/6 after opting to bat. The visitors restricted West Indies to a low score of 122 runs and registered a victory by 68 runs margin.

India’s experiment to promote Suryakumar Yadav worked well and he played an attacking 16-ball 24-run cameo. Rohit Sharma played some blistering shots and scored 64 runs with wickets falling at the other end on a heap. Finisher Dinesh Karthik played the game-changing knock of 41 runs to build a vital 52-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin for the seventh wicket.

Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, despite going for runs early on, took crucial wickets in the power play and shared 3 wickets between them. The spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, and Ravindra Jadeja ran riot in the middle overs with combined figures of 12-0-74-5 in the 1st T20I match.

It remains to be seen if the team management continues with the trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi, or brings in the likes of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav in the 2nd T20I. Harshal Patel may also replace Ravichandran Ashwin if the pitch favours pacers.

Dinesh Karthik has been a part of the Indian T20I squad since the South Africa series at home. He was retained in the series against England and now against West Indies. He will slot in at number seven as India’s designated finisher.

Following a stupendous IPL 2022 season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), during which he clobbered 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33, Dinesh Karthik earned a recall for the T20I series against South Africa at home.

He didn’t disappoint against Proteas, smashing 92 runs in four innings at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 158.62. The 37-year-old was named the Player of the Match for his blazing 55 off 27 balls in the fourth T20I in Rajkot as India leveled the series 2-2. Dinesh Karthik was MOM against the Windies in the 1st T20I too, scoring a cameo of 41 off 19 balls.

He played the 1st T20I against West Indies scoring 16 runs and picking up Jason Holder’s scalp. Ravindra Jadeja had scored 36 runs in 3 ODIs and 53 runs in 2 T20Is on England tour apart from scoring a ton in vain in the rescheduled 5th Test. The right-arm pacer grabbed the limelight in the India- South Africa T20I series by winning the player of the series award. The right-arm pacer picked 6 wickets in 4 innings. His X-factor was his economy rate, as he conceded runs at an economy of just 6.07.

He has also picked 9 scalps in 7 T20Is averaging 22.78 which came at an economy of 7.32 after debuting in 2022 against the West Indies at home.
