Watch- MS Dhoni's IPL 2025 spot guaranteed by Suresh Raina

Former Indian cricketer and IPL winner with the Chennai Super Kings Suresh Raina has given a massive update about MS Dhoni as to whether or not he will be playing in the richest cricketing league again.

Raina was in discussion with RP Singh and Anant Tyagi in the Jio Cinema Hindi commentary box and therein, Raina made this revelation. The 2024 season is being said as the last ride for MSD, who made things even more clear after stepping down from captaincy, only a day before their opening match against RCB. 

The ball was first thrown at RP Singh's court, who said that he hasn't talked to MS Dhoni about it but Suresh Raina disclosed that Dhoni will play in the 2025 season. "One question that I have in mind is about the man who has played 11 IPL finals. Parthiv said that it could be his final season in IPL but RP bhai, will this be his final season? You meet him very often and you talk to him." - Anant Tyagi asked. 

"I don't think it will be his final season. Yes I keep talking to him but I haven't really spoken to him about this. Raina what do you think final season?" - RP Singh replied. To that, Suresh Raina gave a short and simple answer that, "He will play".    

This particular news has definitely brough happiness and joy to the hearts and minds of day 1 CSK fans who have been supporting the South-Indian franchise only because of MS Dhoni. Since the inaugural season, no other captain has won more IPL trophies than Dhoni and Rohit but no other captain in the tournament has lost more finals as well. So that speaks volumes about the level and the kind of gameplay that Chennai have displayed through these years in the Premier League. 

MS Dhoni's love for CSK is so much so that he didn't think twice about leaving captaincy in order to shape the next leader of the team. We all saw what happened in the 2022 season when Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the captain and how that move panned out. The yellow army had finished at the bottom-half of the points table in a season where they were playing as the reigning champions, having won their 4th title in 2021 against KKR in the finale at UAE.

Following the back-to-back defeats under the reign of Jadeja, CSK moved back to Dhoni as the captain and last season, he brought the franchise back to its original place - in the title podium. This season, since he doesn't have any leadership pressure, everyone's focus is on Dhoni's batting. 

The first time he walked out to bat this season was against the Delhi Capitals and therein he scored a quickfire 31* and most recently, he smacked 20 off just 5 balls during CSK's win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede.
