Fans on Twitter reacted after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) thrashed Mumbai Indians (MI) to win their sixth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They thumped the five-time champions by four wickets at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Mumbai Indians were off to a forgettable start with the bat. Rohit Sharma (4), Suryakumar Yadav (10), Tilak Varma (7), and Hardik Pandya perished early as the five-time champions were left tottering at 27 four at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday.
With the team under immense pressure, opener Ishan Kishan (32) and Nehal Wadhera (46) joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble. The Kishan-Wadhera duo added 53 runs for the fifth wicket and took Mumbai Indians past 100 runs, which at one moment didn’t seem possible.
Tim David (35) in the end played a vital hand and powered Mumbai to a total of 144 runs. For Lucknow Super Giants, left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/36.
In the chase, Lucknow Super Giants were off to a shaky start with the bat. Debutant Arshin Kulkarni bagged a good duck in the first over. After that, skipper KL Rahul (28) and Marcus Stoinis dominated the proceedings and added 58 runs for the second wicket.
Stoinis (62) went on to hit a valiant half-century to take his team close to the win. Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya in the end took their team to a comfortable win by four wickets even though Mumbai Indians made a slight comeback.
