MS Dhoni gave a glimpse of his vintage avatar during the MI vs CSK clash on Sunday, April 14 by smacking a hat-trick of sixes off Hardik Pandya. After watching MS Dhoni's batting, Rohit Sharma reacted with a witty smile on the field. 

MS Dhoni played a spectacular cameo for the men-in-yellow. He slammed 20 runs off 4 deliveries off the final over, taking the scoreboard from 186 to 206. His 20 runs made the difference as CSK later crushed Mumbai Indians by 20 runs. 

Chennai Super Kings outplayed Mumbai Indians in match 29 of IPL 2024. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led restricted Mumbai Indians to 186-6 in 20 overs after setting up a gigantic target of 207. Mumbai Indians tasted their 4th defeat of IPL 2024 against Chennai.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya took the responsibility for bowling the final over vs Chennai Super Kings. He started well after getting the wicket of Daryl Mitchell off the second ball. However, the next batter MS Dhoni stormed him for three consecutive sixes. 

As Dhoni slammed Pandya for a huge six off his very first ball, Rohit Sharma reacted with a witty smile on his face with folded hands. It looked like Sharma already knew Dhoni would come up with a big shot against Pandya. Have a look at the video below.

Leaking 26 runs off his final over, Pandya ended with an expensive spell. Across his 3 overs, he leaked 43 runs with 2 wickets. However, his expensive final overcame as a big disadvantage to MI in the match.

Rohit Sharma smacks a ton vs CSK 

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma shattered an amazing century in the CSK vs MI clash, his first-ever at Wankhede Stadium. The right-handed batter held the crease from the start and added an unbeaten 105 runs off 63 balls. He shattered 5 sixes and 11 fours during his innings, batting at a strike rate of 166+. 

However, other MI batters could not lend equally good support. Ishan Kishan (23) and Tilak Varma (31) added some runs. Suryakumar Yadav's two-ball duck arrived as a big blow to Mumbai while chasing. 

While Mumbai Indians started well with a 10-plus run rate in the first 10 overs, CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana's spell put them under pressure. The Sri Lanka pacer hunted 4 wickets for 28 runs across his 4-over spell. 

Notably, MS Dhoni has shown a marvelous batting show in IPL 2024. In an earlier encounter against Delhi Capitals, the 42-year-old added quickfire 37 runs off 19 balls in the losing cause.

Chennai has won 4 games out of 6 in IPL 2024 and grabs the 3rd spot in the points table with 8 points. They will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants in the next encounter on Friday, April 19.
