Just when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru had thought of starting things afresh in IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad's Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad popped up.

All of them spoiled all the planning-plotting of the RCB by literally thrashing and torturing their bowlers to post this year and IPL history's highest-ever total of 287, just two weeks after scoring 277 against MI. After being on the receiving end, Virat Kohli was seen going through a range of emotions.

The batting stalwart, who has acted as the sole fighter of the team in IPL 2024 so far, was absolutely shell-shocked to see the carnage unfold in front of home fans at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. Virat Kohli wasn't expecting the South-Indian derby to pan out the way it eventually did.

He might have been hoping for the bowlers to turn up to the Chinnaswamy with their best performance yet but in turn, they brought out their and any bowling line-up's worst performance in the history of the tournament.

Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli and the entire crowd inside the stadium watched on as Will Jacks, Reece Topley, Yash Dayal, Lockie Ferguson, and Vyshak Vijay Kumar kept on getting thrashed by SRH batters.

All of the RCB bowlers had an economy rate of more than 10 an over. Jacks conceded 32 runs from 3 overs while Topley, Dayal, Ferguson and Vijay Kumar leaked 68, 51, 52, and 64 runs respectively.

They helped Travis Head score 100 off 41, Heinrich Klaasen score 67 off 31 and Aiden Markram-Abdul Samad to amass 32 and 37 respectively, all at strike rates of more than 180.

Virat Kohli's start and Dinesh Karthik's sensational effort goes in vain

It was normal for Virat Kohli, who suffered 2 major heartbreaks last year in the WTC and CWC 2023 finals, to hide his face in major embarrassment, look down in dismay, and scream at the bowlers for their shambolic line-length.

Kohli went through it all last night. In a few video clips that are going viral all over social media, the 35-year-old can be seen putting his hands over his head, discussing with Dinesh Karthik, and uttering some words that cannot be used here, to the RCB bowlers.

In another viral video clip, the batting stalwart can be seen standing like a stone, untraced, still, and unbothered with everything happening around them. There was a look of disbelief, shock, shamefulness, and anger as well, which he didn't let take over him.

He channeled all the emotions when his turn came to bat. While opening along with Faf du Plessis, Kohli quickly got into the task from the word go. He knew that he must look for a boundary from the very first over, and that's what he did as well.

For the first time this season, the highest scorer in IPL history, batted at a 200+ strike rate and helped his team score 80 runs by the 7th over before his departure in the 2nd ball of the over from Mayank Markande.

Then a terrible middle-order collapse saw RCB's chances reduce further and despite Dinesh Karthik's best efforts, Bengaluru lost by 25 runs as they were restricted to 262/7.
