Pakistani sensation Naseem Shah in a recent interview revealed that bowling coach of the national team, Waqar Younis helped him a great deal to improve when it comes to the fast bowling.

In the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, the 16-year-old took a hattrick and became the youngest bowler in Test cricket history to achieve the feat.

Shah dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto, Taijul Islam and Mahmudullah in consecutive deliveries and has lavished praise on Younis, for helping him become a complete package.

The exciting pacer is also the youngest fast bowler in Test cricket history to achieve a fifer which came in 2019 against Sri Lanka.

Shah is lauded by many, as the future of Pakistan’s pace attack, after his historic achievements in his short professional career. The right-arm fast bowler has instead, credited Younis for helping him in his developmental stages.

“Waqar Younis is constantly working with us, and he tells us if we make a mistake whilst bowling and that is giving us a lot of benefit, and we will try to discuss more on this and make use of his experience,” Naseem was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

When Pakistan were playing against Sri Lanka last year, Naseem was struggling to provide his team with breakthroughs. But he went on to achieve a fifer later and credited Younis for his advice.

The 16-year-old spoke to the media back then and revealed that it was Younis who motivated him to do better.

“Even in first innings I was bowling according to the plans but unfortunately I couldn’t get wickets, there was a catch dropped off my bowling as well,” Shah said.

“But, I was motivated after Waqar [Younis] told me that great bowlers are those who can make a strong comeback after a poor day in middle,” he added.

The Pakistani team won the first Test against Bangladesh by an innings and 44 runs and will play a One-off ODI with the Tigers next month, before the second Test which is scheduled for 5th April.
