Fans in Bengaluru screamed “ABD! ABD!” which prompted Virat Kohli to respond in a way that received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Virat Kohli, Team India’s star batsman, may not have been able to amuse the crowd with the bat as he was out in a freak dismissal when the ball was maintained exceptionally low, but he certainly had a good time in the second innings.

On his return to the Chinnaswamy Stadium in India whites, Kohli was greeted with a lot of love from the crowd. Fans began screaming AB de Villiers’ name on the first day of the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka, recalling their IPL chants to connect with Virat Kohli.

During his playing career, the former South African batter was a key member of the RCB squad and was part of an unbelievable trio alongside Kohli and Chris Gayle in the side’s squad. De Villiers is widely considered as one of cricket’s most destructive batters, and his retirement signified the end of an era for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In terms of the game, India restricted Sri Lanka to 86/6 by the end of the day’s play, with the hosts leading by 166 runs. On a challenging wicket that was doing everything just on the first day, Shreyas Iyer’s counter-attacking 92-run knock helped India past the 250-run milestone.
