KKR vs PBKS: Rinku Singh demanded to revolt against Gautam Gambhir's tactics

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra wants big hitter Rinku Singh to bat more often from now on in IPL 2024 to boost his own chances for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.   

Rinku Singh, who appears in the middle and lower-middle order for Kolkata and India, hasn't got many balls to face in the IPL 2024 season. The left-hand batter's chances have become limited due to the presence of Andre Russell and Shreyas Iyer in the middle order. With Russell's form on his side, Rinku has not been able to bat as much as he did last season. 

Rinku's hands tied by KKR management 

Though Rinku Singh has managed to score 107 runs from 7 matches for the Knight Riders a solid and eye-opening knock is yet to come from his bat. The 26-year-old, who made his India debut in August 2023 on the back of his IPL performance last season, will be thinking of entering the Indian squad for the T20 WC.  

But in a situation, like he is at the moment, it is almost as if Rinku Singh's hands have been tied by the management. But for a fact, Rinku is just a few knocks away from securing that finishing role spot in the Indian team but that depends on the chances he gets from KKR. 

Aakash Chopra says Rinku Singh must get runs otherwise Shivam Dube will eat his spot

While speaking on his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra first said that Rinku Singh might not get a chance to bat later tonight against Punjab Kings. But Chopra revealed his greed to see Rinku bat more and score more runs to have his spot fixed in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. 

Aakash Chopra also gave a warning to Rinku Singh that CSK's Shivam Dube is playing really well and that the latter might eat up his spot for the WC. Lastly, Chopra admitted that Rinku doesn't have many options left but to come out with a big knock at some point from now on. 

"He might get to bat less here as well. However, I am greedy that Rinku should get to bat and score runs. Since the World Cup is approaching, I want runs to continuously come from Rinku Singh's bat. The number for which he will be fighting, Shivam Dube is already playing very well there. As much as I love Shivam Dube, I love Rinku Singh as much."

KKR aiming to get to 12 points

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders will aim to get to 12 points later tonight as they welcome Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens. KKR had won their previous match against RCB most dramatically. The Knight Riders were actually very close to losing the match but luck favored them as Shreyas Iyer's side eventually claimed victory by only 1 run. 

A win tonight will take them ahead of 3rd placed Hyderabad and 4th placed Lucknow, who are level on points with Kolkata at 10 points each.
