Rinku Singh is a perfect example of how one great game can build any player's cricket career. Rinku Singh is popularly known for his rocking show with the bat in IPL 2023; when he smacked five sixes in a row against Gujarat Titans.

By raining sixes, Rinku Singh drove KKR to astonishing victory when they needed five sixes off the last five balls.

Rinku Singh is a left-handed batsman. He bats in the middle order and is dubbed as a dangerous finisher who can smack sixes anytime. He made his international debut for India in 2023 after his successful IPL season in the same year.

Interestingly, Rinku is a right-armer when it comes to bowling. He can bowl right-arm off-break but has limited himself to the role of batter in the Indian Premier League. However, he bowled some overs during his ODI debut.

He has been backed by many experts for the shortest format for India due to his hard-hitting batting style.

Early life

Rinku Singh was born in Aligarh City in Uttar Pradesh on October 12, 1997. His father, Khanchandra Singh, worked in a company that distributes gas cylinders. His mother's name is Vina Devi. The KKR star has five siblings- four brothers and one sister.

Rinku started his career with the Uttar Pradesh domestic team and represented the side in the Under-16, Under-19, and Under-23 levels. Uttar Pradesh Team gave him an opportunity in the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 season, where he made his first-class debut.

International career

Rinku Singh made his international debut in the T20I series against Ireland in August 2023. During the away series, the left-handed batsman gave a wonderful show in all appearances.

After the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Rinku made his ODI debut against South Africa. Like T20Is, he executed the role of middle-order batsman very well in the 50-over format too, adding quickfire 55 runs in his first two games. He also tried bowling in one of the games and got 1 wicket.

Rinku Singh has only played a handful of international matches. However, there are no doubts that he is an emerging batter and is en route to a fruitful career in international cricket in white-ball formats.

IPL Career

Rinku Singh was first picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2018 for Rs. 80 lakh. The franchise has retained and bought him back over the years and he is now a permanent and powerful middle-order batter for the side.

In the 2023 season, Rinku ended as top run-getter for KKR which helped him to snatch a place in the national side later. Notably,  KKR dropped him ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction but re-bought him for Rs. 55 lakh later.

Since the 2022 season, Rinku has showcased a marvelous show for Kolkata Knight Riders. He rose to fame for the first time in the 2022 season, when he added 174 runs in 7 games at 34+ average and 148+ strike rate.
