IPL 2018: Michael Vaughan Lavishes Praise On Rishabh Pant And IPL

Rishabh Pant further enhanced his reputation as one of the best youngsters in the game with a stunning batting display against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday.

He came out to bat after Prithvi Shaw’s dismissal and blazed off a six in no time, ensuring Delhi Daredevils stay on course of a huge total. The southpaw hit  2 sixes and a four in the first 10 balls he faced. He was eventually dismissed after scoring 69 off just 29 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes. The pull, drives and reverse sweeps were on full display as he scored his fastest T20 fifty that came off 23 balls.

It was Pant’s third fifty of this season as he took his run-tally to an impressive 375. His latest knock once again caught the imagination of the cricketing fraternity. The fans hailed him for the show and former England skipper Michael Vaughan also joined the bandwagon.

Vaughan took to Twitter to praise Pant and also hailed the importance of IPL in grooming youngsters.

“Rishabh Pant another outstanding young Indian player … The #IPL is creating so opportunities for the Young Indian talent to flourish & be exposed to pressure environments ..”

Coming to the game, the Daredevils beat the Royals by 4 runs (DLS method) in a rain-curtailed game to get back to winning ways. Put in to bat first, the Daredevils posted 196 for 6 before rain interrupted play. Apart from Pant, Shreyas Iyer (50) and Prithvi Shaw (47) also made useful contributions.

Royals were given a revised total of 151 off 12 overs and it looked like they would achieve it when Jos Buttler came out all guns blazing. The Englishman tore into the Daredevils’ attack right from the word go, reaching his fifty off just 18 balls. It was the fastest fifty by a Royals player in the IPL. He was eventually dismissed after scoring 67 off just 26 balls.

His effort, however, was not complemented by his teammates as Royals were restricted to 146 for 5.
