South African speedster Kagiso Rabada has been suspended for a couple of Tests after his Level 2 Breach of ICC Code of Conduct during the 2nd Test in Port Elizabeth against the Aussies.

However, he had challenged the ban, and the hearing for the same will be held on 19th March, Monday.

QC of New Zealand, Michael Heron, has been appointed as the Judicial Commissioner for the hearing. It will be held via a video conference. Heron will then get a maximum of 48 hours to come to a decision.

Rabada has been suspended for the last couple of matches after being handed three demerit points and a 50% fine for his deliberate shoulder contact with Aussie skipper Steven Smith. It happened on the opening day of the 2nd Test in Port Elizabeth.

The Aussie skipper and Rabada brushed shoulders when the former was given out lbw. The contact was pretty minimal, but the ICC is known to be pretty strict with any physical contact.

Article 42.3.1 of the Players Code of Conduct states “making inappropriate and deliberate contact with another player” as a level two offence. It carries a fine sanction.

Rabada already received five demerit points against his name. Three among those five points happened last February when he made contact with Sri Lankan batsman Niroshan Dickwella, as the ICC said it was an “avoidable contact”.

He was further suspended for a solitary Test against England last year and also received a demerit point. He used foul language all through the match. It was the 1st Test in Lords when Rabada screamed “F**k off after dismissing Ben Stokes.
