Chennai  Super Kings (CSK) asserted their dominance over Delhi Capitals (DC). CSK won the match by a massive margin of 77 runs and have sealed their playoff spot. DC skipper David Warner played a stellar knock of 86 runs in 58 balls but it wasn’t enough to take DC over the finish line in the run chase of 224 runs. David Warner was quite aggressive in his approach.

Apart from David Warner not a single batter scored 20-odd runs which is unacceptable in modern cricket. It won’t be wrong to say that the side badly missed the services of Rishabh Pant (*injured) who used to provide stability in the middle overs.

CSK’s bowlers made sure that they don’t give ample room to the batters. The experienced campaigner Deepak Chahar took 3 wickets and gave away only 22 runs in his 3 overs. Deepak Chahar used a lot of variations to fox the batters.

Devon Conway & Ruturaj Gaikwad looked on a mission from the word go. Devon Conway was striking the ball next swiftly and played a spectacular knock of 87 runs in 52 balls and struck 11 fours and 3 sixes. Ruturaj Gaikwad was seen taking calculative risks and playing a brilliant knock.

CSK now have jumped to 2nd place on the points table with 17 points from +0.83. DC would be shell-shocked as there were a lot of expectations from them for better performance. DC are placed at 9th position on the points table with 10 points and an NRR of -0.80.

We can’t keep blaming the wickets- David Warner

After the end of the match, David Warner was having an interaction with the commentary panel. David Warner gave credit to CSK’s batters for their attacking stroke play.

“Credit to CSK, they outbatted us today. We did see that it was a good pitch, boundaries early in the over and we could have put more pressure on their bowlers.”

Talking about Delhi Capitals’ campaign David Warner said that they had some positives, but losing some games badly hurt them.

“There were some positives, we didn’t go too badly with the ball, with the bat we didn’t get partnerships, lost wickets in clumps, we lost some games badly and that hurt, we’ll have to look at these things and come back strongly next season,” said David Warner.

David Warner stated that the side can’t complain about the wickets and needs to use their feet and play according to the situation.

“We can’t keep blaming the wickets, we have been getting some of these this season. We have to adapt to the conditions however tough it might be. You have to back your game plan, hit boundaries and use your feet against spin,” he stated.

“You can’t get bogged down against any bowlers, partnerships would have been handy. I want to be consistent at the top of the order, you need to have a good SR to give yourself a chance, but we kept losing too many wickets in the batting powerplay, these are some of the things we need to think about,” he added.
