Former Cricketer Irfan Pathan Takes Sly Dig At Sourav Ganguly After Wriddhiman Saha's Snub

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan stated that he would much rather have an honest coach than a person who gives false hope. He was referring to the current predicament that Wriddhiman Saha is in, after being excluded from the Indian Test team.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also offered support to Saha, claiming that as long as he is at the helm, Saha will find a place in the team. However, it wasn’t the case when the squad for the 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka was announced.

Apart from Saha, senior players like Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ishant Sharma were also dropped. The idea is to bring about the transition in Indian Test cricket. However, the manner in which Saha’s case was handled came under scrutiny. Speaking about the situation, Pathan took a sly dig at Ganguly.

“An honest coach Or someone just gives hope even after knowing that a player doesn’t fit in the scheme of things? For me, an honest coach ALWAYS!” Pathan tweeted.

The squad was announced with Rohit Sharma taking over as the Test captain as well. Although it is likely that the management will be grooming other options keeping the future in mind, for now, Rohit will be the leader in all three formats.
