Updated - 18 Jan 2021, 07:05 PM
Mitchell Starc grabbed his hamstring during the first over in the second innings which could be worrying signs for Australia ahead of the final day of the Border Gavaskar series. It doesn’t look good for Australia as the left-arm pacer is one of the key members of Australia’s bowling set up and an injury for Mitchell Starc could play a vital role in deciding the winner of the series.
Steve Smith Provides An Update On Mitchell Starc’s Injury
Steve Smith was confident that Mitchell Starc will bowl through his injury and get the job done on the last day. He also mentioned that Starc has previously bowled through injury and hoped that he gets fit in time. “I saw the same thing when he was walking back, he was grabbing at his right hamstring.
“I’m sure he’ll get it assessed by the medical staff and one thing I know about Mitchell is he’s tough and he’s played through some injuries before and got the job done. He’ll be hopefully good to go,” Smith said according to The Courier-Mail
Australia have posted a target of 328 and they need to bundle India out within 98 overs on the last day of the series. Rains affected the last session of the fourth day and stumps were called early which might be a concern for the last day as well. It is expected to rain at Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon session and Australia will have a tough task ahead if they have to win the final game.
Pat Cummins Reportedly Suffering From Elbow Injury
Pat Cummins was struck in the elbow by a Mohammad Siraj delivery that deviated a lot after hitting the crack in the Centre of the pitch. The injury did not look serious and he did bat after getting hit, but he did not take the field at the start of the second innings. He was seen sitting in the dugout which looked like a concern for the Australian fans as the No. 1 test bowler can just go through any batting lineup.
