Rajasthan Royals (RR) have very few resources left after four overseas players are not available for the entire tournament now and they haven’t started the season well too. The new skipper Sanju Samson has had a mixed season and his century in the first game almost took them home in a daunting run chase against Punjab Kings.

So far, the Royals have won two of the five games so far and they are placed 7th in the points table. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes are two huge names in the Royals set up and they are not available for the entire tournament due to injury while Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone have pulled out of the IPL recently citing pandemic issues.

With the transfer window opening up, here are 5 players Rajasthan Royals can target in the mid-season transfer.

IPL 2021: 5 Players Rajasthan Royals (RR) Can Target In The Mid-Season Transfer:

Rajasthan is desperate for a finisher in their lineup and James Neesham could be the best possible replacement for someone like Ben Stokes in their lineup. Neesham can hit the long balls and he can be very useful with the ball as well. He will bring the much-needed balance into the team.

Mumbai Indians haven’t given an opportunity to Neesham yet and he is set to be on the sidelines throughout the tournament with Kieron Pollard holding his spot. It will be tough for Neesham to break into the Mumbai set up and he would rather get transferred to Rajasthan Royals who can rest Mutafizur and include Kartik Tyagi who hasn’t got a game.

Ben Cutting:

Ben Cutting is another all-rounder Rajasthan Royals can give a go with his fearsome finishing abilities. Cutting has been part of title-winning campaigns in the past for various franchises and he does add a lot of value to the team with his variations, excellent fielding, and phenomenal ball striking.

Cutting has been on the sidelines for the Kolkata Knight Riders for a long time and he doesn’t look like getting a game with all-rounders like Shakib al Hasan, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine already in the mix. But he can be a good pick for the Royals as they do not have many right-handers in the middle order and Cutting could do the job for them.

Mandeep Singh:

Rajasthan has not been clicking with their Indian batters and apart from Sanju Samson, there haven’t been impactful performances from the Rajasthan Royals lineup. Manan Vohra was given an extended run, but he couldn’t deliver and they have brought in youngster Yashaswi Jaiswal in the previous game.

They need an experienced hand in the middle order and the best option could be someone like Mandeep Singh at the top or in the middle order. He has so much IPL experience and also has been around the domestic circuit for a long time. He is a gun fielder and he can be a good finisher too. Mandeep Singh has been on the sidelines for the Punjab Kings and the likes of Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan have don’t look like giving away their spot.

Jason Holder:

Jason Holder has done nothing wrong to be out of the Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI, but their overseas players have been too good to be left out. He picked up three wickets in the only outing he had in this season and was left out to accommodate Mujeeb in the playing XI.

He did really well for SRH in the previous season too and has shown that he can play the finisher role and can be a regular wicket-taker. However, with Bairstow, Warner, Williamson, and Rashid Khan, he might be the one to miss out again and Rajasthan could have a look at him. He bowls some very good medium pace and he fits into the playing XI of the Rajasthan Royals at the moment with the need for some experience in the middle order.

Robin Uthappa:

Robin Uthappa was expected to open alongside Faf Du Plessis but instead, CSK went in with the impressive youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad and he has repaid the faith with some excellent performances. CSK does not like to tinker with their playing XI a lot, and Uthappa could be sidelined for the entire season.

However, his former team Rajasthan Royals have been struggling for a top-order batsman and Uthappa has been in really good form recently in the domestic circuit. He is too good a player to be sitting on the bench for so long and he is one of the veterans of the IPL. Rajasthan Royals could replace Jaiswal with Uthappa at the top and he brings in some experience into the side too.
