The RCB vs KKR IPL 2024 match will be played on Friday, March 29 in Bengaluru. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST. It is the second game for the Kolkata Knight Riders while the third of the campaign for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

KKR vs RCB is one of the highly anticipated rivalries in the IPL. The two teams have played 32 matches. Out of these 32 games, Bangalore has won 14 whereas Kolkata has come out victorious on 18 occasions. KKR won both the games last year and has a head-to-head record of 3-2 in the last five games.

RCB lost the season opener against CSK and came back storming in their next game against Punjab Kings. Virat Kohli’s 77 anchored the run chase as Dinesh Karthik (28 off 10) and Mahipal Lomror (17 off 8 ) saw the team home.

The RCB bowlers did a decent job on the Chinnaswamy wicket as the total of 176 was par on that wicket. The Chinnaswamy stadium is the biggest six-hitting ground in the IPL and the RCB bowlers did a good job of not conceding over 200.

KKR almost lost their season opener against SRH. Despite scoring over 200 runs with the bat, their bowlers almost gave away the runs. KKR’s million-dollar man Mitchell Starcgave away 51 runs in his first outing for the Knight Riders. In the end, it was Harshit Rana who defended 13 off the final over as KKR prevailed by four wickets.

KKR yet again opened with Sunil Narine as the move backfired. However, the Windies spinner was as economical with the ball as ever giving away just 19 runs off his spell and picking up a wicket. Heading into the next game, KKR needs to sort out their opening combination. Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of the team should think about promoting a long-term opening combination.

The Knight Riders used 12 opening combinations in the last two seasons and lost nearly 60 wickets inside the powerplay. Phil Salt is the designated opener with Venkatesh Iyer looking the best fit to open the batting. The middle-order of Shreyas Iyer, Niotish Rana, Rinku Singh, Ramandee Singh, and Andre Russell looks deadly and needs to continue their batting prowess in the middle overs.
