Pakistan lost the third Test by eight wickets in Karachi on Tuesday, suffering a 0-3 series defeat in the Test series against England. The Men in Green lost their first two matches in Rawalpindi and Multan by 74 and 26 runs, respectively.

Pakistan have now lost four consecutive home tests, and this is their first-ever whitewash at home. Following the series loss, Babar Azam was criticized, and many doubts have been raised over his captaincy. However, Babar Azam had a decent series with the bat, scoring 348 runs, including a century.

The Story Isn’t Over Yet – Shaheen Afridi

Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi missed the entire Test series due to injury. Many have urged Pakistan’s management to remove Babar as Test captain, but Afridi believes the former is still the best candidate to lead the country. He posted an emotional tweet in support of his skipper, in which he praised him and urged his followers to treat him with the dignity and respect he deserves.

“Babar Azam hamari or Pakistan ki Shan, jaan or pehchan hai,” Shaheen wrote on Twitter. “Wo Hamara kaptaan hai or rahe ga. Kuch or #sochnabhimanah hai. Please support this team. Babar has now lost six of the 16 Test matches he has led Pakistan in, with five of those losses coming this year. Pakistan have almost squandered their chance of reaching the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final after losing 3-0 against England. Pakistan are currently positioned seventh in the WTC rankings, while Australia and India are currently at the top and second, respectively, and England has climbed to fifth place following their historic victory.

Meanwhile, Shaheen will remain out of the national squad for a few more months. Before the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan’s fast bowler injured his knee and missed the entire competition. Shaheen returned for the T20 World Cup but suffered another injury during the final and has been out since.
