PAK vs ENG: Babar Azam vs Ramiz Raja On The Cards? Pakistan Captain Has His Say On PCB Chairman. Ramiz Raja, the head of the PCB during the series, told Pakistan captain Babar Azam to “select T20 players” for Tests after being impressed by England’s “Bazball” notion. Babar Azam shut Ramiz’s statement with a strong remark.

Tuesday’s third and final Test match in Karachi saw Pakistan lose to England by an eight-wicket margin. Pakistan’s first-ever Test series home whitewash and the first-ever streak of four straight losses both occurred as a result of the defeat (one being against Australia earlier this year).

Ramiz Raja, the chief of the PCB, advised that the Pakistani captain follow the example set by England by selecting white-ball specialists for the game’s longest format during a conversation with former England captain Michael Atherton. He made the observation that the country’s young cricketers are more drawn to the shorter forms and want them to view Test cricket in the same way.

“Like England for example, I said to Babar that England is playing the T20 format in a five-day version, therefore you should pick T20 guys here. It’s a forced perspective on Pakistan that I admire. “I want the next generation to think of it as a T20 format, similar to what England is doing,” Ramiz told Sky Cricket during the Multan Test.

“There is a set plan for everything”: Babar Azam

Babar Azam was not in a good mood and responded sternly to the journalist when asked about the PCB chief’s idea of including T20 players after a humiliating series sweep at home, a first in their Test cricket history.

Babar remarked that nothing can be changed in an instant, especially the players’ attitudes. He added that as it is difficult to please everyone, questions would still exist even if they started playing aggressive cricket.

“The door is not shut for anyone. There is a set plan for everything and we have it for every format. You can’t change things in a day or week. It takes time. For the mindset to change, it takes time. Then, if we start playing defensively, journalists will ask why we don’t play aggressively and when we play aggressively, they ask why we don’t play the other way” Babar Azam said.

“There will always be questions, you can’t please everyone. Ultimately what matters is results. If results don’t come then questions will be raised no matter what we do,” Babar Azam said in the post-match presser.

Pakistan will next play a two-match series against New Zealand starting December 26.
