England and Pakistan have played 86 Test matches till date with England winning 26 games and Pakistan 21. As many as 39 matches ended in a draw. The series is a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship with Australia leading the points table. Pakistan are placed fifth and England seventh at the moment.

Multan, the venue of the second Test has hosted only five Test matches till date the last of which was in 2006. Like all the grounds in Pakistan, Multan is also a favourable batting wicket. It will aid the spinners in the last two days of a Test match. The Rawalpindi pitch was hugely criticised for being a flat wicket with no help at all for the fast bowlers. It will be interesting to see how the Multan pitch plays.
