Legendary Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar is expecting Rohit Sharma to repeat his 2019 World Cup performance in the upcoming five-match Test series against England.

Rohit Sharma was in the form of his life in the last World Cup in England in 2019.

The stylish opener smashed as many as five hundred in the same event besides being one of the three players to score 600+ runs.

Alluding to his match-winning hundred against South Africa in difficult conditions in Southampton in that World Cup, Gavaskar reckoned that one should not be surprised if Rohit emulates his 2019 performance in the red-ball format in a months time.

The former opener further stated that Rohit Sharma has added experience to the top-order in Test cricket.

Rohit was one of the few Indian batters who looked extremely comfortable against the seam and swing that New Zealand bowlers generated during the WTC final.

However, the right-hander could not convert his start into a big knock and this is something Team India will hope, isn’t the case during the upcoming Test series against England.

”We saw Rohit Sharma score five incredible hundreds in the World Cup in England two years back,” Gavaskar had told PTI.

”The century he got against South Africa was on a tough pitch and cold conditions and he made the adjustments beautifully. Now two years later he is even more experienced so don’t be surprised if he repeats that performance in this series too,” he added.
