The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad of the India National Cricket Team for the Asian Games 2023. Maharashtra and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the captain of the Indian team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to send its Men’s and Women’s teams for the upcoming Asian Games.

The Asian Games 2023 will take place in China from September 23 to October 8 and it will clash with the World Cup 2023. The men’s cricket competition will take place from September 28 to October 8 in a T20 format.

The competition will clash with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 which will take place in India from October 5 to November 19. As a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to send a second-string side for the tournament.

Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma Named In India’s Asian Games 2023 Squad

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who leads Maharashtra in domestic cricket, will lead the young Indian squad in the Asian Games 2023. The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Rinku Singh alongside Jitesh Sharma has also made it to the squad after missing out on the squad for the West Indies tour. The two wicketkeeper-batters in the team are Punjab Kings’ Jitesh Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh.

The pace department of the side consists of Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Shivam Mavi. On the spin-bowling side, India have Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Ravi Bishnoi.

The BCCI has also named a stand-by list of the players that has consistent performers like Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudarsan in it.
