Mitchell Marsh is quite excited about Spencer Johnson and other debutants who will play for Australia in the forthcoming South Africa tour. Speaking about uncapped pacer Spencer Johnson, Marsh said that he was blown away by his pace when he faced him earlier.

Mitchell Marsh is the captain of Australia for the T20I series against South Africa. He will lead the team in the forthcoming T20I series against South Africa. Notably, Spencer Johnson, Aaron Hardie, Matthew Short, and Tanveer Sangha are four uncapped players in the Australia squad during the tour.

Was Blown Away By Spencer Johnson’s Pace- Mitchell Marsh

While speaking to reporters, Mitchell Marsh spoke about debutant Spencer Johnson. Marsh feels that Johnson will definitely get a crack in the T20I series against South Africa. Marsh also revealed how he was blown away by Johnson’s pace when he faced him in the One-Day Cup final.

“We’ve got an extended squad, we’ve got some young guys coming in which is really exciting, seeing guys like Spencer Johnson, he’ll definitely get a crack. We haven’t seen much of him, have we? He’s had a few injuries throughout his career and he sort of burst onto the scene last year”, Mitchell Marsh said, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

“I remember commentating a game and he was bowling 150 kmph and swinging them both ways. He’s an incredible talent. I faced him in the one-day final at the WACA and was blown away by his skill and his pace. Think he’s going to feel right at home in international cricket,” the Australia all-rounder further said.

Spencer Johnson is a left-arm pacer. The 27-year-old has the ability to touch 150-plus speed while bowling. He recently impressed with his debut in The Hundred 2023 tournament.

Meanwhile, Australia are set to lock horns with South Africa in a T20I and ODI series during Australia’s tour of South Africa 2023. The three-match T20I series will be played first followed by the five-match ODI series. The opening T20I game takes place on August 30 at Kingsmead, Durban.
