Shane Warne's Children Shocked By His Death , Says Manager James Erskine

Australian legendary spinner Shane Warne passed away on Friday, March 4 in Koh Samui, Thailand, of a suspected heart attack in his villa. Since then, the cricket world is finding it hard to cope up with the news. Tributes have been pouring in from all corners with ex-cricketers remembering Warne. He was aging 52 on his deathbed.

Shane Warne’s manager James Erskine in a conversation with the Sydney Morning Herald said that his children are in a state of complete shock and are finding it tough to come to terms with their father’s demise.

“Jackson (Warne’s son) just said, ‘we just expect him to walk in the door, this is like a bad dream’. I think the three children are in complete shock. They can’t believe what’s happened. I think that’s what happens when you have a sudden death,” Erskine told Weekend Today, as reported by Sydney Morning Herald.

“One minute, the kids are talking to him every day and the next minute, they can’t talk to him. Then they start thinking about, well, ‘he’s not going to be there for my 21st [birthday], he’s not going to take me down the aisle’, all of those sorts of things go through your head. They are having a much harder time than anybody, really,” he added.

Shane Warne was one of the most celebrated cricketers of his generation. Besides being the cricketer that he was, he was to many a role model and idol. Warne played was the Player of The Match in the 1999 semi-final and final.

Warne’s glorious career spanned over 20 years and in the meantime, he picked 293 ODI and 703 Test wickets. He also led Australia in 11 matches and won 10 games and lost just one.

He was the first captain to win an IPL title in 2008. He led the Rajasthan Royals in their one and only IPL back in 2008. He also played a huge role in motivating many Indian and other international players to take up the sport.
