The Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) are going head-to-head with each other in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Thursday, May 2. at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The most dangerous batting side of IPL 2024 - SRH - headed into the clash against the Rajasthan Royals on the back of a crushing defeat at the hands of the 5-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings.

In an away game in Chepauk, Chennai Super Kings hammered down the struggling bowling unit of the Hyderabad-based franchise and registered a big total of 212/3. All the SRH, bowlers gave away runs at an economy of 8 or more and were smashed all over the park. Only three bowlers - Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1), T Natarajan, and Jaydev Unadkat (1) - were among the wickets.

Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad batters, barring Aiden Markram, just couldn't get going and they were bundled out for 134 in 18.5 overs to face a huge 78-run loss.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are flying high on confidence as they registered a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their last match in Lucknow on April 27.

It was an overall good performance from the Men In Pink as the bowlers restricted LSG to 196/5 with Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Avesh Khan, and Ravichandran Ashwin being among the wickets and during the run-chase, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased a batting masterclass to steer their team to a victory.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat first in the match and speaking at the toss, Pat Cummins said: "We are gonna have a bat. The games we have won, we batted first. That's probably our strength. Looks like a good wicket."

Sanju Samson revealed that they also wanted to bat first in the match looking at the batting-friendly surface in Hyderabad. Sanju Samson said:

"We also wanted to bat looking at the conditions. It does suit the team, we have done both well this season. The momentum is the key in this tournament. Lot of things have been working well. To recognise what is working well, we just want to stick with that."
