Karachi Kings and Islamabad United were engaged in a high-intense clash with each other in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 on Wednesday (29th February). The match between the two teams took place at the National Stadium in Karachi. 

While the competition between bat and ball was high, the game also witnessed some heated moments. The officials of both the teams Haider Azhar and Rehan Ulhaq were engaged in a verbal fight over ball change during the game that took place in Karachi. 

The incident happened at the start of the 14th over of the Karachi Kings. The umpires asked for the ball to change but Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan was unhappy with the condition of the changed ball. The team management of both the teams then too got involved and there was an utter mess near the boundary rope. 

The Islamabad United team management was seen talking with match officials before Mike Hesson also chipped in. Things got even more serious when Haider Azhar and Rehan Ulhaq were engaged in a verbal spat.

Coming to the match between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, the game was won by United by 7 wickets. Asked to bat first, Karachi posted 165 runs on the board. Skipper Shan Masood added 27 runs on the board. Leus du Plooy added 24 runs that kept the team on track despite losing early wickets. 

Kieron Pollard then made sure in the end that Karachi Kings ended the innings on high. He scored 48 runs off just 28 balls. Irfan Khan (27*) supported him well as his team ended with 165 runs. For Islamabad United, Agha Salman was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/17. 

In the chase, Colin Munro (82) and Alex Hales (47) played magnificently well at the start. They added 108 runs for the opening partnership before Agha Salman (25*) and Shadab Khan (10*) helped the team win the game by the margin of 7 wickets.

Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan expressed his delight after his team won the game against Karachi Kings. He praised the effort of the team after facing a loss in the previous game. He admitted that they weren’t up to the mark with the fielding and they needed to put energy in the field. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained: 

“When you win, sometimes your mistakes are covered. Lovely win, nice how the team picked up after the loss in the last game. We were not up to the mark in our fielding. We have to put more energy in the field. As a bowling un,it we were very good. Sometimes you go for runs but if we field better it’s a different ball game,” he concluded. 

Islamabad United are placed 5th on the points table with 2 wins under their belt from 5 games so far. They have lost 3 three games as well and now would be hoping to continue the winning run. They will be next seen in action when they will take on Quetta Gladiators on 2nd March.
