Former India National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri, who is the commissioner of Legends League Cricket (LLC), has said that the second edition of the LLC will be dedicated to the 75th-year celebration of the Indian Independence.

The upcoming Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2022, which will be the second edition of the tournament, is scheduled to commence in September. Four teams are set to take part in the tournament and in total 15 games will be played.

The inaugural edition of the tournament was also held this year from January 20 to January 29 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. In the inaugural season three teams – India Maharajas, World Giants and Asia Lions – competed in seven games.

The upcoming Legends League Cricket 2022 is all set to commence with a special match between the India Maharajas and World Giants. The special match will be played on September 16, 2022, at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata and from the next day, September 17, the main tournament will begin.

Ravi Shastri shared the news of the second edition of the LLC being dedicated to the 75th-year celebration of the Indian Independence on Friday. He said:

“This is a proud moment for us that we are celebrating the 75th year of our Independence. As a proud Indian, it gives me immense satisfaction to share that we have decided to dedicate this year league to the 75th year of Independence.”

Meanwhile, the former India National Cricket Team captain and current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly will be leading India Maharajas and the England National Cricket Team World Cup winning skipper Eoin Morgan will be leading the World Giants in the special match.
