Bangladesh, who is yet to put their hands on the coveted Asia Cup trophy, and will be keen to lift it this time starting from September 15 at the UAE.  In a bid to win their first trophy, the selectors are likely to name a strong squad.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will start their campaign on the first day against Sri Lanka September 15 at Dubai. Bangladesh is coming from the back of a good series against Windies and will look to carry the winning momentum.

So far, there have been 13 Asia Cup tournaments starting from 1984. India won the first Asia Cup title beating Sri Lanka and since then went on to win another five. On the other hand, Sri Lanka had won five while Pakistan had managed to win only twice.squad for Asia Cup 2018.

Bangladesh have some talented youngsters back the experience of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. The cricketers will look to put up a spirited effort in the upcoming tournament at UAE.

SHAKIB AL HASAN(c)

Shakib Al Hasan will have to lead the side from the front if Bangladesh wants to give themselves an opportunity to win the tournament. However, there are certain speculations over his participation in the Asia Cup.

Recently, he led the side to the T20I series win against Windies and will hope to carry that form.

The left-handed opener has substantial experience behind his back and will look to make full use of it. Mominul has last played an ODI in 2015 and will be keen to make an immediate impact.

Mominul Haque will have the pressure of filling in the big shoes of Tamim Iqbal.

Soumya Sarkar is a utility cricketer who can contribute with both bat and ball. The top-order batsman can provide his team with quickfire starts and also can chip in with useful wickets.

The swashbuckling emerged into the international circuit as a wicket-keeper batsman. However, now, he has now grown into a sole batsman in the limited formats of the game.
