Former Australian captain, Ian Chappell feels for Australia to win the Tests, they have to attack good players like Virat Kohli. However, the first Test of the four-match Test series will commence from December 6 at the Adelaide Cricket Ground.

Meanwhile, the veteran says Mitchell Starc would be the key bowler for Australia in the long Test series. Chappell also said Kohli would try to put pressure from his early innings. Moreover, Starc might put the Indian pressure on trouble by delivering the in-swinger to him.

“You got to a check good players most of the times, particularly early. I think Starc is important because he does like to play early on his innings. He plays some fresh innings, plays with an angular force that can go trouble particularly when you start getting balls to swing back on your row” Chappell said in an interview with ESPN.

In addition to, India will miss the services of Hardik Pandya. He had sustained an injury while playing a game against the arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2018. Ian Chappell further said India might go with the most experienced spinner in the team, i.e., Ravichandran Ashwin. Ian feels Ashwin can put pressure on the left-handers who will be the crucial element for India.

“I think without Pandya, they really start thinking to pick one spinner in the line-up. I think they will go with Ashwin as he is the most experienced one in the team” Chappell added.

Furthermore, the 75-year-old cricketer also said India needs to be aggressive in thoughts while playing Nathan Lyon.

“Somebody wants it better the spinner; the more aggressive your bat and I think more aggressive on your mind. You are trying to hit up fours and sixes” Ian further added.

Chappell further said Steven Smith always likes to have an extra bowler in his team. However, Australia will miss the service of the most experienced player, as he is serving a ban for twelve months after involving in a ball-tampering scandal with his partner David Warner earlier this year in South Africa.

Furthermore, Ian Chappell backed Mitchell Marsh, as he would be a useful player, as he can bowl the extra overs if required. Moreover, he can bat down the order with the tails and can impose pressure on the opponent. He feels Marsh will be a sensible pick in the playing XI.

“Steve Smith like to have that extra bowler, and I can understand that. Particularly in Australia, I think the extra overs will be bowled by Mitchell Marsh, and I think also Marsh will bat when it requires some of the other places. So I think Mitchell Marsh will be crossing the fingers as well.” Ian Chappell concluded.
