Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has shared high praise on Indian National Cricket Team skipper Virat Kohli labeling him as a fantastic captain ahead of Boxing Day Test. Meanwhile, Kohli’s men had lost the Perth Test by 146 runs, and the four-match Test series is currently leveled at 1-1.

Moreover, the duo had shared the same dressing room while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Starc also said that Kohli is a fantastic player and it is up to India how they continue their cricket in the remaining matches of the series.

“I’ve played a couple of IPLs with Virat, and he’s been fantastic to play under, as a captain. Obviously, he’s a fantastic player. The way India play this series and go about their cricket, it’s up to them.” Mitchell Starc told reporters.

Virat Kohli became the skipper of RCB after he took over the baton from Kiwi bowler Daniel Vettori. Whereas, Starc was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous edition of IPL before being released by the franchise due to the unavailability of the Aussie seamer in IPL 2019. The Australian pace spearhead also missed the last season of the IPL due to injury.

On Sunday, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri called Virat Kohli as ‘an absolute gentleman.’

“Fantastic – why, what’s wrong with his behaviour? People can question; as far as we’re concerned, he’s an absolute gentleman,” Shastri said.

In addition to, former Australian opener Matthew Hayden also applauded Virat Kohli. The 47-year-old also added Kohli was more like Australian than Indian in many ways.

“He plays the game in a very competitive spirit. He is very animated; very passionate; very emotional. As long as there is a line, and I don’t think Virat has crossed that … everything has remained on the field,” Hayden told the Mumbai Mirror.
