The difference of opinions between Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) continues to aggravate.

This time, the focal point is between the choices of speakers for the Pataudi Memorial Lecture, scheduled to take place in Bengaluru.

While two members of BCCI recommended the name of former Indian skipper and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Sourav Ganguly, CoA went ahead and named Kevin Pietersen as a suitable speaker, due to the non-availability of Kumar Sangakkara.

BCCI’s acting secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, has been vocal against the Englishmen as the speaker for the event, by sending a scathing letter to CoA chief Vinod Rai. Whereas, CK Khanna and Anirudh Chaudhary vouched for Dada as the orator for the said event.

Undoubtedly, all suggested speakers are good orators. I would go ahead with Sourav Ganguly and Kumar Sangakkara,” CK Khanna wrote in his mail, according to TOI.

Khanna presented a list according to his preferences which had Ganguly right on top, followed by Sangakkara, Pietersen and Nasser Hussain.

I would recommend topic number 2 to be delivered by speaker number 1 or speaker number 3. Would be very interesting,” seconded Amitabh Choudhary.

That, CoA members, Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji, continued to maintain that the entire dispute is a non-issue.

We do not propose to complicate things for you. Diana and I are not privy to any discussion/consultation which took place in Bengaluru. Since we were not in the loop, our suggestion followed. Four names were proposed to us by you. We picked one name out of those,” CoA chairman Vinod Rai wrote to Saba Karim.

“Since you are already following up on that name, please continue to do so. Failing his availability, I am open to any name that is suggested. These are non-issues on which evolving a consensus should not be a problem,” continued Rai in correspondence with general managers of BCCI.
