Chris Gayle Delivers An Uplifting Message For KXIP's Dejected Players As Team Finishes Sixth

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)’s 2020 IPL campaign could not go as desired as they ended up in the sixth position in the points table, failing to qualify for the playoffs. Kings XI Punjab ended their year with six victories out of 14 matches even after a tremendous comeback as their campaign kept sinking. Following that, Chris Gayle has offered solace to his teammates.

Chris Gayle, who is one of the pioneer batsmen of T20 cricket, played in the last seven matches of IPL 2020 and performed to his full potential. He struck three half-centuries in his 288 runs at a strike rate of 137.14. Since the southpaw came to the side, KXIP stormed to victory in five consecutive games; however, could not win their remaining two. It was also KL Rahul’s first edition as captain.

Chris Gayle admitted that although, it is a sad ending to IPL; however, reminded that it should not let it break anyone. The 41-year old pointed out that there are life lessons from this as cricket teaches about the ups and downs, stating that at the end of the day, it is only a game. Gayle concluded by thanking everyone for the support.

“For me, it is a sad ending to the IPL, but you guys shouldn’t let IPL break you. Actually, it should make you, teach you about life. That’s the nature of cricket anyway. Cricket teaches you about life, ups and downs, you know it’s all in the game. Just a special thanks to each and everyone for the support,” Gayle said on a video posted by the franchise’s official Twitter handle.

KXIP will come back stronger next year: KL Rahul

KL Rahul, the captain and leading run-getter of IPL 2020, promised that KXIP would come back stronger next year and was proud of the way they played. At the same time, the 28-year old admitted that they did not play to their potential; however, they have to take it on our chin and work hard.

Really proud of the way we played. Will come back stronger next year and we will see some happy faces again. It has been a difficult year, tough year. That’s how the game goes, that’s how the IPL is. Let’s take it on our chin and come back stronger next year,” Rahul said.
