Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar spoke on Kane Williamson’s significance in SunRisers Hyderabad reaching the summit of IPL 2020. SunRisers Hyderabad extended their winning streak to four matches by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator in Abu Dhabi and will now face Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier. Sanjay Bangar stated that Kane Williamson is as crucial for SRH as David Warner.

Kane Williamson scored a match-winning half-century against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi in the eliminator when the Orange Army found themselves in trouble. The 29-year old batted at number four and compiled an unbeaten 44-ball half-century to drive his side towards victory in a tricky chase of 132. He negated the spin duo of Adam Zampa and Yuzvendra Chahal carefully to muster a measured fifty.

Sanjay Bangar claimed that Kane Williamson’s role is as crucial in the middle-order as David Warner’s role at the top. Bangar reminded that Williamson’s temperament and the ability to soak the pressure was for everyone to see and it is a quality not many batsmen have. Hence, if the Orange Army has to continue its winning streak, the Kiwi skipper has to be in good form.

He’s (Williamson) gone be equally important for SunRisers Hyderabad…how a David Warner is important right at the top, but you saw in the previous game, his temperament, the ability to soak-in pressure and then put the pressure back on the opponent is a crucial quality, which not many people have. So, I believe, he’s going to be a crucial element, if SRH have to continue their march of winning five games in a row. So, he is going to be critical,” Bangar stated as quoted by News18.

The former Indian all-rounder hailed Delhi Capitals’ opener Shikhar Dhawan as a big-match player, who rises on massive occasions with some exemplary knocks. Bangar admitted that having played for the SunRisers previously, Dhawan will know how to tackle Rashid Khan and he has to fire if the Capitals are to reach the final.

He’s (Dhawan) a big match player…World Cup, ICC Championship, whenever he is required he has always fired for the team, which he has played for. He knows what is the state, he knows the SunRisers Hyderabad in and out, because he has played for them, he knows how to tackle Rashid Khan and he goes after him. So, I believe, Shikhar Dhawan is going to be a brilliant, brilliant player if Delhi Capitals have to win this game,” the 48-year old added.
