"Dashing on and off-the-field"- these words truly describe David Warner who has been a happy-go-lucky guy everywhere. Whether it is smashing runs on the field or dancing on his social media, David Warner has always entertained fans to the fullest.

David Warner is a left-handed batsman who plays for Australia. Unarguably, he has been among the best openers for Australia since the last decade.

He has retired from ODIs and Tests in 2024. However, he is part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, after which he is going to pull the curtains down on his international career.

However, Warner will still be wandering in Indian stadiums, as he is expected to feature in the Indian Premier League. He will turn 38 in 2024 and still can play a few more seasons for his current team Delhi Capitals.

Early Life and Career

David Warner was born on October 27, 1986, in Sydney (New South Wales) Australia to Howard and Lorraine Warner. He grew up with his brother Steven Warner- his only sibling.

He married athlete Candice Warner in April 2015. The couple has three daughters- namely Ivy Mae, Indi Rae, and Isla Rose. Warner started his career under his childhood coach Wayne Geber.

In November 2008, Warner got his first break when he was picked by the New South Wales Team in the Domestic circuit. He made his first-class debut in the same year. Next year in 2009, Warner also broke into the Big Bash League with the Sydney Sixers team. He is still part of the same franchise.

International Career

Warner made his international debut with a series against South Africa in January 2009. He was part of both the ODI and T20I series during the home series. Later, he also made his Test debut two years later.

Notably, Warner has been part of all three formats since 2011 and plays the role of an opener. He is among the rare gemstones who have played more than 100 games in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. He has mustered 18,000-plus runs in his international career.

IPL and BBL Career

David Warner has been a disastrous opener in the Indian Premier League too. He has smacked more than 6500+ runs and is the fifth-highest run-getter in the league (as of IPL 2024).

Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL 2017 title under his leadership. He was the poster boy for the team at one stage. However, he parted ways with them ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. He was captured by Delhi Capitals and is still a member of the side.

The Aussie star has been part of the Indian Premier League since the 2009 season and played for two teams. He was part of Delhi Capitals from 2009 to 2013 seasons. Later, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2014 to 2021.

Later, he moved back to Delhi Capitals. With 4 IPL tons and 62 half-centuries under his belt, he is among the best openers to date. He scored more than 500 runs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

In the Big Bash League, Warner has represented Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunders since the start. Currently, he is a member of Sydney Thunder.
