Of all the teams in the auction of the thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals didn’t buy many star-studded players. Yet, they used their money wisely, going for athletes like David Miller, Robin Uthappa, and Tom Curran. Amid all their picks, the franchise’s Chief Operating Officer Jake Lush McCrum conceded Yashasvi Jaiswal as one of their top buys in the auction.

Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious in the inaugural season of the lucrative T20 league under the reigns of Shane Warne. Since then, they have remained mostly inconsistent. The pink army made it to the playoffs in 2013, 2015, and 2018 but missed out on the title. Ahead of the next edition, the Royals will be hoping they have all their bases to clinch their second title.

And the 18-year old Yashasvi Jaiswal could be crucial to their chances. The teenage batsman has hogged the limelight through his destructive innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well as the 2018 ACC U19 Asia Cup. The COO stated that he is an exceptional talent, who is very courageous in his shot selection and his additional ability to bowl leg-spin will add a lot of value to the side.

He further said that they wanted to secure his services last year itself, having performed incredibly well in their trial but the southpaw hadn’t played any state game. McCrum expressed his pleasure in roping him in, labelled him as an exquisite talent and holds the belief that his learnings will expand in the company of seniors.

“We wanted to buy Jaiswal last year. He performed incredibly well in our trial; however, he hadn’t played a state match so couldn’t enter the auction. We are delighted to secure him now and believe he is an exceptional talent. He is a quality left-handed batsman who can also bowl leg-spin and is so brave in his shot selection. We think he’ll learn an incredible amount from the senior players and also add a lot of value to this franchise.” the COO said as quoted by Times of India.

The great news is with the IPL finishing on 24th at the latest, we will have all our English players available if we make it to the final.” he added further.
