Though India lost final against Bangladesh, there are quite a few positives for them to take out. One of the major positives was Dhruv Jurel, who proved to be yet another solid wicket-keeper in making for the Indian National Cricket Team. He pulled off an MS Dhoni kind of stumping during the final to dent Bangladesh further.

His remarkable stumping dismissal of Bangladesh’s Shahadat Hossain in the final clash at the Senwes Park, Potchefstroom got everyone talking. The moment took place in the 17th over when spinner Ravi Bishnoi flighted a slow one outside off to Shahadat on the first ball of his over.

Dhruv Javel was lightning quick:

Hossain decided to step forward and defend the ball, but played a little outside the line, and got a faint inside edge on the ball. The ball rolled back to keeper Jurel after it ricocheted off the batsman’s pads. Hossain failed to get his feet back into the crease, and Jurel, with his quick reflexes, collected the ball from the ground with one hand and whipped off the bails in a flash.

Despite a formidable batting order, Indian batsmen were folded for a paltry 177 in 47.2 overs. With a low total to defend, Indian spin wizard Bishnoi stepped up on the scene as the rookie removed Bangladesh opener, Tanzid Hasan, to break the Bangla Tigers’ opening stand on 50 in the ninth over.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Towhid Hridoy soon followed the suit thanks to Bishnoi’s remarkable effort with the white ball. Bishnoi’s exploits still went in vain as Bangladesh successfully chased down the revised target of 170  (DLS method) to lift the famous trophy for the first time.

Bangladesh skipper Akbar Ali was awarded the Man of the Match for putting up a show for the Bangla Tigers by anchoring the chase in the low-scoring thriller.

Twitteratis were quick to compare Jurel with former India captain MS Dhoni, who has been known for lightning-quick stumping work throughout his career.
