Mongia feels it is a golden opportunity for Karthik also to cement his place as a regular wicket-keeper. He also shared a warning for him by saying that red-ball cricket is entirely different from that of white-ball cricket.

Mongia, who has represented India in 44 Tests and 140 ODIs stated it would not be easy to cement a place in a tour like England.

Praises on Saha:

He praised Saha by saying that he is number one Test wicketkeeper-batsman of India at present. He called his injury an unfortunate one for team India due to his form. It is worth noting that Saha got injured during the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Thoughts on an eye-catching performance of Dinesh Karthik in recent times:

Nayan Mongia thinks that Karthik has not shown a lot of consistency. He said there is no doubt that his confidence level is at its climax after playing a match-winning knock against Bangladesh.

However, he said the limited-overs format is wholly distinguished from that of Test cricket.

“The white ball is a difference game, In Tests, you need to keep for hundred overs or hundred twenty overs. You need to have a lot of confidence and concentration,” he said.

The former wicketkeeper feels that India should have persisted with Parthiv Patel. He said that Parthiv Patel is number two wicketkeeper just after Saha.

As per him, Parthiv Patel and Wriddhiman Saha both are at par, and there is not so much difference between them.

On Rishabh Pant, he said that it is unfortunate to drop a player who has not featured yet. He noted that the temperament which he delivered, we need to have more faith in him.
