Former Windies captain Carl Hooper feels the fans will come to watch Test cricket in the Caribbean if they put the best team on the park. The Windies players are still having their political issues with the board as most of them don’t play for the national side on regular basis.

Meanwhile, Carl Hooper was the first cricketer who reached the milestone of making 5,000 runs, 100 wickets and 100 catches in both Tests and ODIs. Moreover, Hooper last visited India in 2002 when he came to the country with the Windies team. Furthermore, he was also part of the expert panel in the Test series between India and the Windies.

The Windies cricket is going down the slope.

“Yes, this is the first time. I am coming back to India after 16 years. I was curious to know how India had changed over the years,” Carl Hooper said while talking to TOI.

Meanwhile, Carl Hooper first visited India in the year 1987. He was not happy with the hotels as there were not many good hotels to stay or eat and he had to eat outside. However, Hopper also applauded India as everything he needed he used to get at his fingertips.

“When I came here first in 1987, all these big five-star hotels and airports were not there. You will get sick if you eat outside. Now there are like a dozen quality restaurants near you. In Adelaide, I had to send my Swiss-made watch back to Switzerland to get its batteries changed. In Delhi, I could do that from the corner shop now. Things are at your fingertips in present India,” Carl Hooper added.

Furthermore, Hooper praises Virat Kohli by saying he is achieving greatness. He recently reached the landmark of fastest 10,000 ODI runs. In addition to that, recently, Kohli also scored three consecutive centuries in the first three ODIs against Windies.

“He is achieving greatness. You can’t compare him with any other player right now. He is scoring centuries virtually every other day. Self-belief and work ethic seem to be the secrets to his success and he is passionate about playing for India,” Carl Hooper concluded.

India will play three T20Is against Windies commencing from November 4 (Sunday).
