Gautam Gambhir Congratulates Amit Shah And Narendra Modi After They Propose To Revoke Article 370

The Government of India on Monday decided to revoke Article 370 which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Soon after that, former India cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir backed the move and congratulated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Meanwhile, massive chaos broke out in Rajya Sabha as the home minister proposed to revoke Article 370 and bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories – namely Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. The situation in the valley was turned into a grave before the government brought the amendments in the house. The opposition leaders of Jammu and Kashmir were taken into confinement while every means of communications were stopped in the valley.

The move garnered a lot of reaction from every sphere. While many rejoiced the step, a lot of others cited the decision to be undemocratic. Gautam Gambhir who hails from the ruling BJP party praised the move congratulating Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He also claimed that his party has done what others couldn’t achieve.

Soon after the proposal, several Opposition parties staged a protest in the Parliament. PDP, Trinamool Congress, DMK MPs sat on a dharna on the floor in the well of Rajya Sabha. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is currently under house arrest, slammed the move. Mufti said that India has failed to keep up the promises India made in the instrument of accession.
