Former South African batsman, Herschelle Gibbs wanted to see India skipper, Virat Kohli in the chase of 481 runs. Owing to his exploits, Virat Kohli is regarded as the best chaser in the modern-day game.

Meanwhile, England posted the highest ODI total of 481-6 against Australia at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.

Interestingly, England went past their own previous record of 444-3 which was achieved against Pakistan at the same ground of Trent Bridge.

Kohli has a phenomenal record while chasing in ODI form.

Virat Kohli has scored 35 ODI hundreds in which 19 centuries have come in successful chases. Thus, Kohli is regarded as the king of the chase in the ODI cricket.

Thus, Australia would have loved a player like Kohli in their gargantuan chase.

Meanwhile, Herschelle Gibbs was also part of one of the best chases in the ODI folklore. Gibbs had scored a fine 175 off 111 balls against Australia in the run-chase of 434 in 2006 at Johannesburg. Consequently, this match is regarded as the best One-Dayers in the history of the game.

Meanwhile, England batsmen were on fire against Australia.

England’s opener Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow laid down a stable platform for the England side. Consequently, both the right-handers put together an alliance of 159 runs in just under 20 overs. Thus, the England innings kickstarted in the top-most gear.

Subsequently, the hosts kept cruising in the same gear throughout their innings.

Furthermore, the Australian bowlers veered off the track. Thus, the inexperience in the Australian bowling battery was palpable.

Jonny Bairstow continued his dream form going, as the England opener scored a fine 139 off just 92 balls. The right-hander smashed 16 fours and five maximums in his innings. Bairstow opening partner Jason Roy scored a quickfire 82 off 61 balls.

Herschelle Gibbs took to Twitter to share his post. Gibbs post read as, “Would love to have seen @imVkohli in this chase..”.
