Sri Lanka’s ICC World Cup 2019 campaign came to a premature end when England defeated India on June 30 at Edgbaston. But all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva is upbeat to finish their campaign on a positive note beating India in their last group game.

De Silva confident of beating India

Sri Lanka have blown hot and cold so far in the World Cup, and it continued as they beat West Indies by 23 runs at Durham. Avishka Fernando, who has been in great form, scored his first ODI century to post a mammoth total on the scoreboard. Previously, Kusal Perera and Dimuth Karunratne got them off to a brilliant start, and contributions from their middle order helped them post 338 runs at the end of 50 overs. Chasing a mammoth total of 339 runs, West Indies fought till the last ball. Nicholas Pooran led the chase partnering Fabian Allen but had to sink in front of Lasith Malinga’s brilliance. Pooran reached his first ODI century scoring 118 runs while Allen contributed with 51 runs off just 32 deliveries.
