ICC World Cup 2019: Mohammad Kaif Names his India Squad For the Showpiece Event

Former Indian National Cricket team player Mohammad Kaif has recently joined the bandwagon to name his team for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Meanwhile, the 12th edition of the showpiece event will commence from May 30 with England taking on South Africa in the first game.

The bell has already rung for the biggest cricketing extravaganza as the teams have started to fix their final XI. However, for India, they have already sealed most of the berths with one or two places still up for grabs. Mohammad Kaif in his tweet noted that 20 cricketers are in the reckoning while the top 13 are certain to sit on the plan to England. The former Uttar Pradesh cricketer named Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, and Kedar Jadhav in his squad, who are still struggling to cement their spot in the team.

However, the trio have got enough opportunity to seal the spot but have failed to show consistency. They will still have five ODIs to go against Australia starting from February 23 to end all the speculations. On the other hand, he has picked KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Khaleel Ahmed, Umesh Yadav, Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar for the other two spots for the ICC World Cup. Among all, Mohammad Kaif gave a nod ahead to Shankar considering the favourable conditions in England.

The young Shubman Gill failed to make an impact in the two ODIs against New Zealand. KL Rahul, on the other hand, looks unlikely to make it to the final squad with his poor form and Rishabh Pant despite showing blistering form in the Tests, is yet to make a mark in the ODIs.
