IND vs AUS: Watch – Mohammed Shami Gives An Epic Reply To Axar Patel's “I Kept Telling You To Play Slowly” Remark

The premier India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami gave an epic response to the star spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel’s “I kept telling you to play slowly” remark after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series-opening encounter at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur.
Shami performed brilliantly for India in the first Test of the four-match series against Australia. The pacer castled David Warner in the first innings and then he dismissed Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland in the second innings.

Also, with the bat Shami made a notable contribution in the only innings India batted. He scored 37 runs off 47 balls, with 2 fours and 3 sixes. The 32-year-old stitched together crucial 52 runs in 86 balls with all-rounder Axar Patel.
Notably, the spin-bowling all-rounder Axar also scored outstanding 84 runs off 174 balls, with 10 fours and 1 six, in the first Test. With the ball, he only got one wicket as his bowling partners took away the rest of the wickets.
After the match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video in which Shami and Axar were having a conversation.

“You came in with such confidence, what were you thinking?,” asked Axar Patel in a video shared by the BCCI.
“I was given a role, I was told to bat as long as I could. They told me to be patient but that did not happen,” Shami said.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel further tried to school Shami for snubbing his advice and batting with an aggressive approach.
“I kept telling you to play slowly, and you kept hitting sixes,” said Axar Patel.
The right-arm pacer came up with a witty response and said that Axar hurt his ego by telling him to play patiently.
“My ego was getting hurt (laughs). I try to bat as long as possible and stop the bowler from picking my wicket, and try to take as much responsibility as I can. And we also learn from you guys, about how to play some shots. My mindset was also just to stick around with you for as long as I could and will try to do the same in the future as well,” Mohammed Shami added.
