The three-match T20I series has been done and dusted with India comprehensively getting the better of the visitors 2-1. Rohit Sharma did a pretty good job in leading the side from the front in Virat Kohli’s absence. Now the entire camera angle shifts to red-ball cricket and with the return of Virat Kohli, the two-match Test series promises to be one heck of a blast.

Following the success against Proteas at home, head coach Ravi Shastri added that the resolution of the side was to take the pitch out of the picture as they truly believe in their own capabilities. Ahead of the first Test match at Indore, head curator, MPCA, Samandar Singh Chouhan has some words to say. According to him, it will be a sporting wicket which will have assistance for everyone.

“Good wicket, sporting wicket, assistance for everyone, as per the format the pitch will be good for all five days,” Chouhan told Hindustan Times.

Indore venue saw dark clouds looming large over the last couple of days and this has a major influence on the preparation of the surface. According to Chouhan, they were forced to keep the pitch surface covered and watered it a lot less.

We didn’t receive any specific guidelines from the Indian team for pitch preparation: Chief Curator

“Weather was a problem in the past few days, but we were prepared as such. The forecast is clear,” Chouhan added. The head curator had conceded that they have not really received any specific guidelines from the Indian cricket team for the ideal preparation of any kind of surface. The chief curator who has been working for around 4 decades knows exactly about the team’s strength and as a result, the surface will be prepared accordingly.

“Do not receive any specific guidelines from the Indian side, have been working for 35-40 years now, we know what will are the strengths of the side and hence, accordingly prepare the surface,” he said.

After the end of the opening Test match, Team India will lock horns with Bangladesh in their historic Day-Night pink-ball Test at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. More than the fans, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will be looking forward to this intriguing match as it will be played in his hometown from November 22-26.
