New Zealand Cricket team had a paltry start to the five-match ODI series against Indian National Cricket team as they went down by eight wickets at Napier. With 1-0 down, they will desperately want to level the series as the focus shifts to the Bay Oval.

Meanwhile, the Blacks Caps failed to perform as a team with skipper Kane Williamson the lone warrior. However, the hosts are coming on the back of some good performance and this side has the ability to bounce back. As a result, they would like to go in with the same squad and make the series even stevens.

Here is the predicted XI for New Zealand Cricket team for the second ODI against Indian National Cricket team for the second ODI at the Bay Oval:

MARTIN GUPTILL

The dashing Kiwi opener struggled to get going in the opening fixture as a brilliant delivery from Mohammed Shami rattled his timber. Martin Guptill will have to provide a solid start, and on a given day, he can single-handedly take a game away from any opposition.

COLIN MUNRO

Colin Munro enjoyed a good run in 2018; however, a piece of brilliance from Shami castled his stumps early on in the innings. The southpaw will have to regroup himself and bounce back in the second ODI playing his normal aggressive game.

Skipper Kane Williamson was the lone scorer for his side in the opening fixture at Napier. The one-drop batsman will have to continue his form with the bat and lead his side from the front in the remaining games.

ROSS TAYLOR

The veteran batsman has been in top form for his side in recent times. However, Ross Taylor failed to capitalise on the start in Napier as the spin duo from India weaved their magic brilliantly. Taylor, meanwhile, will be keen to hit the scoring boots once again and guide his side level the series.

TOM LATHAM

Tom Latham did the hardwork of getting his eye in but struggled once the spinners came in action. The southpaw will have to work on his game if he wants to score big against an able Indian bowling attack.

HENRY NICHOLLS

Henry Nicholls will have to provide stability in the lower-middle order as New Zealand is aiming to fix their team combinations ahead of the showpiece event in May. Nicholls managed to score only 12 runs in the first ODI and will be desperate to play a big knock at the Bay Oval.

MITCHELL SANTNER

Mitchell Santner returned to action after a long injury lay off. Although he struggled in the first game but he will need some time to get into the groove. The all-rounder will be a vital cog in the New Zealand team for the World Cup.

DOUG BRACEWELL

New Zealand as a team struggled in the first outing against Indian National Cricket team and Doug Bracewell was no different. The all-rounder will have to make a mark with Jimmy Neesham waiting for an opportunity.

TIM SOUTHEE

The veteran all-rounder Tim Southee is an essential member of the New Zealand squad, and his form will be crucial for Black Caps going into the mega event. Southee will have to pick wickets with the new ball if the hosts want to make inroads into the batting order.

LOCKIE FERGUSON

Lockie Ferguson picked one of the two wickets that fell on Wednesday’s clash; however, he went for runs in Napier. The right-arm pacer will have to contain runs if the Kiwis want to restrict the visitors to a small total.

New Zealand will depend on Trent Boult to pick quick wickets with the new ball and put Virat Kohli & Co on the backfoot early on in the innings. Meanwhile, the left-arm pacer was economical and will look to continue doing so.
