Well, it was one of those bad days at the office for New Zealand Cricket Team on the other day. They have been completely outsmarted by the visitors Indians to lose the first ODI of the 5-match series. Meanwhile, the Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson warns to not take them lightly, as they already figured out their mistakes.

Kane Williamson quoted that they have made an error in judging the surface, which dented them dearly. He feels that tackling Indian spinners would have been much better. Kane also felt that Mohammad Shami has made the major difference at the top.

We Should Have Played Little Smarter – Kane Williamson

The skipper of New Zealand Kane Williamson quoted that they need a few adjustments to their game and will be looking to make a strong comeback in the 2nd ODI. He believes that his team got enough goods to make things happen for the team.

Further, he hailed Shami, who never gave the momentum for Kiwis batsmen to explore. Then he added that Indian spinners were class apart, who bowled the decent line and lengths on a consistent basis in the match.

”Mohammad Shami bowled well and spinners as well. In fact, there collective bowling is good and never given away momentum. The surface wasn’t bad but different from what we were expecting. From our perspective, we should have played a little bit more smartly on that surface. They perhaps exposed us in some areas. The length that they bowled in that wicket was outstanding and did make scoring hard to achieve, so a lot of learning to come,” Kane Williamson quoted.

“It is not our best performance and I think you need to look at it in small bits. It is not about jumping … or any knee jerk reactions to our performance. It is about identifying some areas we need to get better at and when we get it together we can beat anybody but we are against a very strong team in India,” Kane told reporters.

Well, as Kane Williamson said, India was at their best during the entire game. Now, the focus will be on the second ODI, in which, New Zealand would like to give their all, as the loss might give the visitors a great chance of bagging the series.
