Eric Simmons confirms that the 44-year-old keeper-batter is not with the team currently, and there is no confirmation about his first match this season as well. Simmons also mentioned that the former captain is steadily improving and will be available when he is ready.
“Updates on MS Dhoni are way above my pay grade. He's not with us (in Delhi), but steadily improving. He'll be ready when he's ready, and he knows when he's ready to play. But he hasn't travelled yet,” CSK bowling coach Eric Simmons told the media in Delhi.

Dhoni remains an unsolved riddle in IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings are still in the title race as they have managed to win multiple games in their previous few games. At this crucial point of the tournament, when the team has started to show some promising cricket on the field, in pressure situations, CSK fans are wondering when the icon will play his first match in the ongoing season.
