It was one of those poor days at the office for the Indian National Cricket Team. They have been completely thwacked by the host Kiwis in all sections of the game. The victory for Kiwis also dented the hopes of the Indian team registering the whitewash against New Zealand in New Zealand. Meanwhile, they bagged an unwanted record to their name.

Well, spilling the beans, the loss against Kiwis, which came with 212 balls spare in the innings is India’s biggest loss in their cricket history. Previously, it was against Sri Lanka, which came way back in 2010 when they were knocked out with 209 balls to spare at Dambulla.

Three of top 5 losses came against Sri Lanka:

The third heaviest loss in terms of balls came against the very same opposition at Hambantota in 2012 when the total was chased with 181 balls left by Islanders. Co-incidentally, their fourth heavy loss also came against Islanders.

This time, it was at home in a picturesque venue Dharamsala. It was also under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy when Suranga Lakmal wreaked havoc. Their loss came with 176 balls to spare. The fifth loss was against Australia at Sydney in 1981. It came with 171 balls to spare.

However, as Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma said, it was one of their weak performances on their field after a long time. There is also a fact to consider that India played without Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in their ranks. And also, gave a debut to a youngster.

Trent Boult Wreaked Havoc:

Coming to the game, initially, it was Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme show, who rattled the defence of Indian batting attack. They exploited the weakness of Indians pretty smartly to bundle out there for 92 runs on the board. Then, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls made it look easy while chasing.

However, they have avoided the chance of being whitewashed at home by Indian National Cricket Team. Now, they would like to repeat the same in the final ODI to see the series scoreline look better on the paper.
