India's Tour Of Australia 2020-21: Virat Kohli Confirms That He Might Miss As Many As Three Test Matches- Reports

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has reportedly written to the board that he will not be available for three out of the four Test matches that the Indian team is set to play against Australia. Notably, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announced in September that they are going to become parents and the baby’s expected delivery is set to take place in January.

Team India is scheduled to take on Australia in a tour that consists of three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Test matches. The tour is scheduled from November 27 and all the Indian players that are supposed to travel to Australia and were participating in IPL 2020, have already joined the Indian bio-bubble and started their training.

Virat Kohli To Miss The Final Three Test Matches Against Australia- Reports

On Monday, a source close to the BCCI said to the Times of India, Rohit won’t travel to Australia unless he clears a fitness  Test conducted by Team India physio Nitin Patel. Unless Patel and the National Cricket Academy declare him fit, Rohit is not going to Australia.”

“However, we’re keen to see that Rohit is fit in time for the Test series, considering that Virat has written to the Board hat he may miss as many as three Tests due to personal reasons,” the source added.

Australian Test Squad To Be Announced Later This Week

The Australian Test squad for the Indian tour is set to be announced later this week as Cricket Australia will finalize the group of players who will lock horns against the Indians later this year across all formats. A week ago, the Indian contingent for the Australia tour was announced as Virat Kohli will be seen leading the Men in Blue across all the three formats.

Ajinkya Rahane will resume the responsibilities as the vice-captain of the Test side, while Rohit Sharma’s absence has made way for KL Rahul to be the vice-captain of the national side in the ODIs and T20Is. The Men in Blue will carry four additional young bowlers as the net bowlers for the Australian tour while Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma will be under medical supervision and their progress will be checked on a regular basis.
