IPL 2018: Home Venue For Kings XI Punjab Confirmed

The preparations are in full swing as the much-awaited eleventh season of the Indian Premier League is just a couple of months away. As of now, all the focus is firmly set on the forthcoming mega-auction, scheduled to take place this weekend in Bengaluru.

The auction, set to the biggest one since the inaugural season, will see a total of 578 players including 360 Indians will go under the hammer.

Major decisions are taken at the meeting:

The IPL governing council took some important decisions in its meeting on Monday (January 22).  The upcoming season of the league will be held from 7 April to 27 May. Mumbai, the home ground of defending champions Mumbai Indians, will host the opening match and the final of the cash-rich T20 tournament.

In another decision, the council also decided to shift the start of the matches, which were scheduled to begin at 8 pm and 4 pm in the last ten seasons.

“The broadcasters requested for a change in timings and IPL governing council in principal has accepted it,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said. “Live broadcast of 8 pm game will be shifted to 7 pm, while 4 pm will be played at 5:30 pm.”

Home venue finalised:

Another big decision that was taken at the meeting was the finalisation of Kings XI Punjab’s home venue The Punjab-based outfit will play four of their home games in their primary home venue Mohali and three in Indore. Kings XI Punjab had used Indore’s Holkar Stadium as their home ground last year too.

On the other hand, the home matches of Rajasthan Royals, who are returning to IPL after serving a two-year ban, will be decided after the Rajasthan High court’s hearing on 24 January.
